My Trip to Seckington's Hair Salon

23 Feb 2015

Before Christmas I was kindly invited to have a complimentary blow dry at a salon in Northampton, Seckington's. I'd heard of the salon before but had never visited and unfortunately couldn't fit in any time or really have any reason to have a blow-dry before Christmas so I asked if I could come for my birthday in February and Johnny, the owner, said he'd treat me to a Cut & Colour as a special birthday treat which was amazing and so generous!

So the week before my holiday, I popped into Seckington's, cakes in hand, to have my hair coloured, cut & blow dried. I was greeted at the door by two lovely girls and then shown to my chair to wait for Senior Designer/Technician, Joshua. We talked about my hair & what I fancied doing to it but I actually quite liked how my hair was so we decided to just touch-up the roots and Josh gave my hair a much cleaner cut shape. It was great that Joshua sat down with me beforehand so he understood exactly what I was after - which to be honest, wasn't a lot but it made me feel at ease that he was going to do a good job! We also sorted out my fringe as I normally part my hair in the middle then separate my fringe to one side but I was bored of that so Joshua decided to part my hair all to one side and blow-dried it so that I still have a fringe but it looks much nicer.

I was treated to a head massage and conditioning treatment after I had it coloured and then Josh cut and blow-dried my hair whilst we chatted about the bakery & the Kardashians. I think I need to book a lesson in blow-drying as I normally blow dry mine at home but Josh did it so well! It was so voluminous and stayed looking freshly styled for about 2 days after.

Seckington's use Aveda products in the salon which although are the best in terms of ingredients compared to other natural brands, it's the best I'm going to find in a salon near me and I'd rather use Aveda than a completely non-natural brand.

I'm not sure if it was because of the conditioning treatment or the choice of shampoo/conditioner I took on holiday but my hair was so well behaved on holiday - normally it's a frizzy mess in the heat but it stayed so smooth and straight which was a huge bonus and cut down styling time whilst I was holiday.

My experience at Seckington's was great - the service was amazing and the end result was great too, I'd definitely recommend them to friends & family. The prices are more than I would normally pay as I get my hair done by a friend at home however I'd definitely go back to have my hair cut & coloured as I'm so pleased with the result....

*My treatment was provided free of charge in exchange for a review however my opinions are 100% honest and my own.

  1. Amber your hair looks amazing! I agree, even though Aveda aren't the best, they are a better alternative to pretty much all other salon brands. I used to swear by Aveda products, and am struggling to find alternatives! x
