Blue Labelle Petitgrain & Tamanu Cleansing Oil | Beauty Review

16 Oct 2014

Blue Labelle make natural and organic botanical oils using nut, seed & essential oils. The company was founded by Pascale Edwards-Labelle in 2011 after a good friend of hers introduced her to the benefits of oils back in 2006. She realised that more and more people were concerned with what was in their products and after lots of research, studying, certification and assesment, Blue Labelle was born!

I was sent their Petitgrain & Tamanu Cleansing Oil* which comes from their new Biologique range that has been in the making for 2 years! The range of oils are 100% organic and include nutrient-rich oils and concentrated plant oil blends to cleanse skin and remove make-up.  The Petitgrain & Tamanu blend is perfect for normal to oily skin, including problem skin as the extracts work together to clear the skin, including Evening Primrose to help skin health & hydration and Bergamot to purify and balance skin. Using oils is my favourite way to remove make-up and cleanse my skin as using an oil blend means you get lots of different benefits from each oil.

It smells quite earthy and it took me a while to figure out what it was but I knew I had tried something before that smelt exactly the same and it is actually the Neal's Yard Remedies Palmarosa Facial Wash! That'll be because it also contains Palmarosa which is an excellent oil for oily skin as well as Jojoba oil which is the closest oil to our skin's natural sebum meaning it'll help regulate oily skin.

The star oils in this cleansing oil are Petitgrain & Tamanu. Petitgrain is a tonic and mild astringent which helps to clean and balance the skin and Tamanu is an amazing oil that has been used for years & years and has had quite the spotlight the past few months. It also helps to clean and promote clearer skin.

As you might have guessed from the ingredients, my skin is loving this oil! It removes my make-up efficiently without leaving my skin feeling stripped or clogged. I have been using this for over a month now and I really like it. I love using it in the mornings and I have been using it twice a week as a "deep cleanse" and it's worked great on my blackheads on my nose and chin. I take 4 or 5 pumps and cleanse my face, concentrating on my nose & chin for around 10-15 minutes....which sounds really long but when you see the effects, it's completely worth it and makes for a really relaxing "me" time! The blackheads on my nose are much less prominent & it helped to clear up quicker the horrible cluster of spots I had on my chin. This is up there as one of my top cleansers with my Lyonsleaf balm & the OSKIA cleanser...a keeper!

This oil costs £28.00 for 100ml which I think is a really good price, especially as it is 100% organic and natural and will last at least 4 or 5 months with daily use.

  1. I've been a fan of Blue Labelle for a long time, the dry/sensitive cleansing oil from the original range is always in my stash, use it most days when not testing out new products. I was sent the Chamomile & Avocado, just as good & great for sensitive skin :)

  3. Looking at those ingredients even a newbie like me knows that's a good deal! I think sometimes its hard to justify a purchase when a cleanser is £28. But then when you think about how long its lasts and the quality is up there with the best then its worth it. For example I would more likely try this over tata harper if I were feel spendy, as it's an affordable treat . Am I making sense?
