Circaroma | Beauty Review

12 Jun 2014

I was recently contacted by Circaroma who I came across on Twitter and was asked if I would like to try some of their award-winning organic skincare products. I'd been browsing on their website after following them so I was thrilled to be asked. A parcel arrived just a couple of days later & I couldn't wait to try them. Their products have been featured in magazines like Vogue, Tatler, Red and Marie Claire and are used by celebrities such as Kate Winslet and Zoe Ball. They are also featured in the Natural Beauty Bible.

Circaroma are an organic skincare brand, created by Barbara who works as a classical aromatherapist. She runs her own private practice and wanted to use only the best quality ingredients available on her clients so alongside her therapists who work at Circaroma, they have created a complete range of face and body care from some of the finest ingredients available. Barbara believes "you can care for your skin in a genuinely natural way, whilst achieving effective results and experiencing beautiful aromas."

The first product I tried was the Nurturing Vetiver & French Lavender Body Lotion* (£17 100ml). Circaroma have two different body ranges; Nurture & Relax and Uplift & Refresh and this creamy lotion comes from the Nurture & Relax range. It is blended with tranquil oils of vetiver and sweetly fragrant french lavender. It has coconut and jojoba oils to soften skin with aromatic notes of orange, lemon and rose geranium to nurture. It was voted No 1 Organic Skincare Product in the Independent and I can see why!

At first I was a bit hesitant as I don't really like lavender scented products but I actually really like this as it's not too overpowering and to be honest doesn't smell all that much like Lavender to me! It sinks quickly into the skin without leaving a sticky or greasy residue. I've been using this for weeks and love it - the bottle is almost half empty now! It's really lightweight but it does moisturise my legs & arms enough. It's lovely to use at night as it has a relaxing scent & you can put clothes/PJ's on straight afterwards. A winner in my eyes, I would definitely repurchase this once I've got through some of my stash!

I was also sent the Purifying Patchouli Leaf & Jojoba Berry Facial Polish* (£14 35g) which is right up my street as I love a good exfoliator! Patchouli is a rich, amber coloured oil that is produced from the highly scented leaves of the plant, grown wild in Java, Indonesia. This enriching, sensual oil is highly rejuvenating for the skin and gently uplifting for the mind. Along with the soothing patchouli, its ingredients include hydrating jojoba oil and gentle English chamomile as well as ground walnut shells to exfoliate and palmarosa to cleanse, brighten & restore your complexion.

I have to talk about the scent of this product. I don't know what it is but it smells like paint to me?! I'm not sure...it must be the patchouli but just as you open the jar you just get a whiff of what to me, smells like paint...it doesn't stay on the skin its just when you open the jar? Scent aside, its a lovely product to use.  It has small pieces of ground walnut shells that gently exfoliate the skin whilst offering a soothing cleansing action at the same time which just feels so lovely! My skin feels soft after using this and it does a great job of getting rid of any dry patches. It feels like a cream cleanser and exfoliator all in one so I don't have to use another cleanser after this as I feel like it does a great job on its own!

The Replenishing Rose Flower & Lemon Zest Facial Mask* (£18 35g) claims to purify, replenish and nurture your skin. Its ingredients include kaolin clay, deeply fragrant rose flower and toning lemon zest along with soothing almond and jojoba oils to gently cleanse and purify the skin. This is a very lightweight face mask which I actually like as it makes a change to my heavy, thick clay masks that I normally use. It smells really good and doesn't dry up on the skin. I slathered a thin layer of this across my face and left it to do its thing for 10 minutes then took it off with a hot muslin cloth. My skin looked refreshed, felt soft and my blackheads on my nose appeared smaller immediately after. I've been enjoying using this and would recommend it for anyone with oily/blemish prone skin who likes a light face mask rather than the thick clay ones you'll probably be used to!

Overall I'm really pleased that I got to try these products and discover the brand. I'm not sure how I went so long without finding them! For such high quality organic ingredients, I think the prices are great. The only annoying thing is I can't find the ingredients lists on the website...I had to go onto Victoria Health (link) so have a look on there if you want to find out the ingredients.

Have you tried anything from Circaroma?
