Inika Lip Whip Review

24 May 2014

Whilst browsing My Pure to make my purchase for this month, I was struggling to choose! I am trying to use up a lot of my skincare stash as quite frankly, I have way too much. I don't use up samples nearly enough and am left with shelves of products so I decided to delve into the world of make-up this month and had a lot to choose from.

I eventually decided on an Inika Lip Whip* in the colour Berry (£15.50 8ml). Inika are not a brand I have used before so I decided to give them a go. The most exciting thing for me is that these lip glosses are vegan. I'm not a vegan, but you may know that I have an issue with the use of carmine in products - I really hate it when companies use it, especially in lip products so I was thrilled that these do not contain carmine, even in their pink shades!

Inika is certified cruelty free and one of the few certified vegan make-up brands on the market. It is free from talc, bismuth oxychloride, GM ingredients, parabens, preservatives and fragrances. Inika captures nature's richest and most flamboyant hues - from bold electric blues to rich reds, dazzling purples, sweet baby pinks, glorious green and everything in between. The pigments in Inika products are undiluted and pure, so only a small amount of product is needed to achieve great coverage meaning they will last longer which is great as they're not on the cheap side of green cosmetics.

Inika are on the higher price range of natural cosmetics so I had high expectations from the lip whip. It was smaller than I thought but I can see it lasting a long time as you really do only need a small amount to give a lovely sheen to the lips. It is filled with Vitamin E so claims to be moisturising whilst offering a slight hint of colour at the same time.

I like the colour pay-off, it's not too much but looks lovely over lipstick or on its own. In the photo below it's just straight onto my lips so it's almost like a "my lips but better" shade which I love. In my new YouTube video I am wearing this lip whip with a pale pink lipstick underneath so head over there if you want to see the difference when applied over colour. You do have to make sure it's completely even though so I would recommend applying this in front of a mirror as the colour does get darker the more you apply (as you can see in the photo above) so could end up looking patchy. I can look past that though as it smells delicious, isn't very sticky at all and is a lovely colour.

I would say that you definitely need to make sure your lips are moisturised and not flaky at all before using this though as I have noticed that as it dries, it can get a bit flaky & crumbly on my lips which isn't attractive.

    1. Haha I know that's the great thing about it - you can apply more for more depth. And also when applied over lipstick it looks brighter :)

    1. I know I hate when they come with a stick, especially clear ones because then the stick gets your lipstick colour on it ugh!

  4. This looks so pretty! I have the INIKA cream eyeshadow right now and I love it (formerly a hater of cream shadows). I might have to get this next time I place an order with them.
