The Body Deli Blueberry Fusion Micro Scrub

1 Mar 2014

New to A Beautiful World, The Body Deli products are fresh from California, containing some of the worlds most powerful ingredients and superfoods. When it was first launched on A Beautiful World, I quickly hopped over to have a look at what there was to offer. The bright colour of this exfoliating scrub instantly attracted me to it and I'm so glad I tried this out.

It is described as "a truly natural antioxidant facial scrub that rivals a professional micro-dermabrasion treatment in the comfort of your own home.  This powerful exfoliant with micro-polishing and high potency natural acids that effectively remove dull, dry and damaged skin cells. Skin is left brighter, fresher and amazingly smoother. It's like having a professional micro-dermabrasion treatment in the comfort of your own home"

I've never had a micro-dermabrasion treatment so I can't compare or say that this is true but what I can say is that after using this my face feels super smooth, looks radiant and it helps to get rid of any dry patches I might have. The pores on my nose look smaller and my skin has a lovely glow to it. It smells so gorgeous too, you can tell these products are made fresh! It contains blueberry and acai as well as three naturally occurring acids; lactic, malic and citric.

I just use a small amount and rub onto dry skin and then I use a hot flannel to remove the product. The product itself isn't full of large grainy bits to exfoliate but the acids help to give a soft exfoliation whilst helping to combat and dry, flaky patches of skin. I used this in New York as my skin was dying for some TLC. The weather was so cold and my skin was not loving it one bit. I used this after our two hour Brooklyn walking tour when it was -4 outside and my skin did start to sting a bit. I did think it was because my skin was already very dry and sensitive from the cold weather but I used it a few nights ago and I had the same result. It wasn't stinging that bad but I wouldn't have been able to keep it on for much longer. As soon as I rubbed it off the stinging stopped and my skin wasn't red at all. I did some googling and e-mailed the lovely ladies at A Beautiful World to see if this was normal for this product. Liz, the CEO of ABW kindly e-mailed me back and let me know that this is normal as it's essentially removing the top layer of skin to reveal a brighter look, but to limit my use to once a week and to not keep it on for that long at a time.

I love the sound of all of their others products too that are available exclusively on A Beautiful World. Ana recommends the Light Facial Emulsion in her review here, and I really love the sound of their Green Detox Scrub that Ria reviewed here

Which products are you tempted by?

  1. Interesting to hear how you got on with this, I have bought it for a friend so I hope they like it. I think my sensitive skin may struggle with this but there are so many other Body Deli products I like the look of, especially the sunscreen for summer and thank you for the mention :) Xx

    1. It is a great product, just best to know that you need to scrub it on and wipe it off pretty much straight away. The first time I used it, there was no sting then on holiday and the time after it stung but last night I used it and it didn't sting again so I'm not sure why but if you take it off after you've scrubbed, its fine! I really want the SPF for summer too :) no problem xx

    2. I second you Amber :) There were no clear instructions on either ABW's website or The Body Deli's official website. I left it on for like 7 minutes the first time using it (actually, more like 9 I suspect because it took about 2 minutes to apply it all over my face) and my skin responded really badly, I was red all over, looking like I had been in the sun forever on peak hour! I emailed ABW and after that they added the word "immediately" in the how to use section, that you should rinse it off immediately.

Considering that it takes a little time to apply it (about 1-2 minutes), you really only need to wait a minute tops after it's been applied before you rinse it all off, actually, it's probably better if you don't wait at all. I tried leaving it on for 2 minutes (4 minutes total) after applying it and that made me red as well, although the redness disappeared much quicker and it wasn't as severe. This is a good product, you just have to be cautious with it and not use it very often :) Once a week really is enough and I haven't experienced any ill effects after using it properly.

    3. I did see your review on the ABW website! I don't know how you kept it on for 7 minutes haha! I think as it is a scrub it's not meant to be kept on for long, but I agree it does work well, if you don't leave it on for very long! I think Liz has asked the girls to add more instructions to their website though after I emailed her :)

    1. Haha it does look like it would taste really good! Its great because theres no harsh sugars or beads that can irritate the skin, its just the acids that do the exfolaiting :)

    1. I actually just used this last night and it didn't sting. And when I first used it it didn't sting either. I think it might be if I cleanse my face first and then use it afterwards, it may be reacting with the other products or may be because my face is warm? Not really sure but the effects are great :)
